Central Coast Council congratulates the winners of the 2022 Grandma Moses Art Competition. This year, Gay Pickering was awarded the Winner of the Open Category for her oil painting, Hawkesbury. Council Administrator, Rik Hart said he was delighted to have the competition back this year to celebrate the artistic talents of local seniors.“This year we had 67 entries showcasing the diverse and creative talents of these members of our community,” said Mr Hart. “Congratulations to all the artists who entered the competition, in particular thosewhowere commended, highly commended or winners in one of the six categories.” Senior talent shines in Grandma Moses Art Competition

S1 Winner-Gay Pickering-Hawkesbury

“The level of skill our older artists have on display is outstanding,” Mr Hart said. The Grandma Moses Art Competition and Exhibition is inspired by American artist, Anna Mary Moses, affectionately known as Grandma Moses. She was famous for her late-life foray into the art world where she managed to produce more than 1,500 paintings from the age of 78, proving that age is no barrier.
