COAST REALTY PURCHASE PEARL BEACH CAFÉ AND GROCERY STORE C oast Realty – the boutique independent real estate agency on the Coast who specialise in prestige properties in Pearl Beach and Patonga, have just purchased the iconic Pearl Beach Café and Grocery Store. Kevin McCunn, who has owned the café and grocery store for the past 9 years says that the venue has so much potential, and he welcomes both the investment and the support that the Coast Realty team will bring. Kevin will stay on in a managerial position under the guidance and leadership of the Coast Realty team for a transitional period. In what may seem to be a strange move for a real estate agency, Co- Founder of Coast Realty Troy Rushton, explains how it was in fact an obvious decision for the organisation. “Our Principal, Stuart Gan has been servicing the area for well over 25 years. Naturally, our team has developed a good rapport and fantastic relationships with the local community. We are lucky enough to call many of them, including the cafés owner Kevin, our friends.” Troy says. The acquisition builds upon Coast Realty’s already established position within the Pearl Beach community through sales, rental and holiday services. This year sees Coast Realty’s fourth year sponsoring Opera in the Arboretum. The esteemed event is hosted and organised by the Woy Woy Rotary Club which attracts visitors and high-profile talent from far and wide as John Regan – Woy Woy Rotary Opera Sponsorship Officer explains. “Coast Realty has always been a big supporter of Woy Woy Rotary. This year we welcome them as a top tier sponsor and we are incredibly excited to see how they plan to tie in their newly acquired café to our wonderful event and visiting guests.” John says. Russell Grove, President of the Pearl Beach Progress Association, explains that the Coast Realty team is community focused and believes this news will benefit everyone. “The Coast Realty team truly cares about Pearl Beach and we are always grateful for their ongoing support and involvement in our village and community activities. We are excited to welcome them even further into the community with their newly acquired venture and we look forward to seeing what they do with this wonderfully positioned venue.” Russell explains. The team at Coast Realty have engaged local Chef and hospitality expert, Pauly Mac who will work alongside Chef Cam to improve on the overall café offering and menu strategy. Pauly will review and improve everything, from operations and service to suppliers and food. The team will also be focused on giving the venue a face-lift, with high and low seating options and new spaces for everyone to enjoy at any time of day. “We plan to support other local businesses, from the produce we serve at the café and stock in the grocery store to the musicians used at events, we hope to create something truly special for all to enjoy and be part of.” Troy proudly states. Troy also adds “We feel a real sense of responsibility to help support this little slice of paradise in Pearl Beach. We want to ensure it remains as much of a special place for the locals, as it is for the guests that visit,”
Golden Health Rules... B eing healthy isn't a matter of luck. We all need to take responsibility by following healthy habits and be mindful of our diet, exercise, weight, sun safety, alcohol, smoking, managing stress, having the recommended routine checks and seeking medical advice when our bodies tell us something is not right. Feet - Wear a decent pair of shoes with support rather than slippers, scuffs or thongs if you have foot problems. Slippers encourage you to shuffle rather than letting the joints work as they should, and increase the risk of slips or falls. Plus, comfortable running shoes will support the arch. Digestion - Never eat after 8pm (unless you are out to dinner). Eating at night substantially increases your risk of acid reflux. As well as being uncomfortable in the short term, it's associated with oesophageal cancer. Ideally, eat your evening meal at least four hours before lying down. Menopause - Stress makes menopause symptoms worse. Many women can feel a hot flush coming over them as soon as they feel anxious. Certain nutrients can help reduce stress - particularly vitamin B, magnesium, Siberian ginseng. Joints - Keep moving. Hurt doesn't necessarily mean harm. People with joint pain often think that rest is best to avoid wearing out their joints. Joints need to be moved, and movement helps to keep the muscles around the joint strong and flexible which means less pain in the long term. Breasts - Don't drink every night. Even small amounts of alcohol can increase your risk of developing breast cancer and, the more you drink, the greater your risk. Around 3,000 cases of breast cancer each year are linked to alcohol. Keep in mind the recommended 2 units per day is just one standard glass of wine! Bones. ..Walk every day for 30 minutes, particularly if you have a sedentary lifestyle or sit at a desk all day. This not only provides weight-bearing exercise but it's also a chance to top up levels of essential vitamin D from sunlight. Both are great for bone strength. Heart. ..Eating more anti-inflammatory omega-3 fats found in fish, grass fed beef and free range eggs. Avoid excess fat, sugar and salt. Stay Hydrated - Drink plenty of water.
