More Than Jewellery, A Beautiful Ethos Seaspray Valuations & Fine Jewellery in Umina Beach is proudly owned and operated by husband and wife team, David and Julie Mitcheson, whose ethos has always been to provide extraordinary jewellery with integrity. At Seaspray, we take great care to ensure that all of our pieces are produced with a focus on sustainability and ethical practise. Our ethical standards and environmental concerns ensure we source our diamonds and gemstones from reputable gemstone and diamond dealers, and follow the Kimberley Process in sourcing conflict free diamonds. All scrap metal left over from creating handmade jewellery is collected for recycling … the gold scrap is ultimately sent off to be melted down, refined and re-used again and again. We also buy old gold from customers and recycle it back to fine gold, to be made into beautiful new jewellery or for repairs, without the heavy footprint that the mining of new gold brings. Seaspray also specialises in re-purposing old jewellery. Do you own, or have been given, jewellery that you never wear and just sits at the bottom of a drawer? We encourage our customers to come in and have their existing, old or unwanted jewellery transformed into something new and beautiful to wear, whilst still retaining precious memories. Utilising their old gold and gems, and in consultation with Julie in our interactive Design Studio, customers can take an active part in their new jewellery design with a 3D visual of what their new piece will look like before it is handmade or custom made by our jewellers in our onsite workshop. David also believes strongly in mentoring the next generation of jewellers … one of our apprentices has just recently completed and is now a fully qualified jeweller, and our other apprentice is currently in her third year.
