FEATURED VEHICLE

Although he thought hard on it, Kerry could not choose a favourite accessory that he’s had installed on Zeus: “That’s a toughie–the reverse camera, the rear step bar, the grill with the 20” light bar, the side step bars, the centre console vault, the huge third brake light, the satin dark grey wrap, the BDS lift kit, the rear bumper flood lights, the swing case in the truck bed, the Retrax hard bed cover and the wheels and 35” tires combo are all kind of tied for first place in my favourites list”. Next, he plans to add: “KC HiLites super low-profile M-Rack with 50” curved light bar and 4 side floods. Those will complete the ultimate ‘Bug Out’ vehicle theme.”

Kerry’s other most memorable vehicle also has a great name, Boomerang: “I have a 1988 Camaro IROC-X convertible that I spent over $100k on and sent to South Carolina

for 6 months to have completely modified end to end. It is LS3 Supercharged with 700HP. It is now without a doubt one of, if not the, fastest rag top in existence. Back when I was a dealer, I sold that car 4 times with the instruction to the new owners to bring it back to me if they ever wanted to sell it. They did this in 1992, 1996, 1999 and 2003. I then sold the dealership and saw it in the old car trader in 2007. Then I bought it for the fifth and final time. That’s why the plate says Boomerang–because it kept coming back.” Kerry is a driver who gets the most out of his vehicles and that includes his GMC: “It has always been a daily driver. At 280,000 km, I had a decision to make, buy a brand new one or spend the money to make my truck exactly what I always wanted it to be. The deprecia- tion on a new one in its first year would pretty much cover the cost of the redo and since the truck still runs perfectly, I chose the rebuild route. It was one of the most fun things I have ever done. The truck has been a chase vehicle for the Enbridge cancer bike run with 2200 bicyclers, it’s rescued neighbours from ditches, and been in the Arizona desert, the great Smokey mountains and the Pacific Northwest. It’s been everywhere, pulled everything and has served our family wonderfully.”
