The Stone Newsletter July -September 2021

President ’s Message

W elcome to the Second Half of our 30th Anniversary Year in 2021! What an incredible first six months we have experienced here at Greystone: an exciting Regions Tradition, SEC Women’s Championship, the completion of the tennis center renovations, the kick-off of the pool season, the numerous social and dining events, and so much more. It is truly a wonderful time to be a member here at Greystone.

To our many new members, “Thank You” for choosing to make Greystone your home away from home. It is encouraging to speak with our new members and hear how much they are already enjoying their time here. It is very heart-warming to see all of the new families taking advantage of our many activities and making new friends along the way. I am honored to report that as of July 1st, we have welcomed more than 122 new members this year! This unprecedented growth is a team effort with the support of your staff, your Committees, the Board, and so many of you who have encouraged your families and friends to join Greystone. THANK YOU! Greystone is as close as it has ever been to achieving our membership capacity. Six years ago, we set a goal of 1,000 members, and as of this printing, we will have only 70 memberships left toward this goal. At the rate we are growing, we could easily accomplish this goal before the year is out. We want YOU to be the ones selecting who these remaining mem- bers will be. At our upcoming Board of Directors planning conference, we will be discussing what a membership limit will look like and how to meet the needs of our growing membership best. A waitlist is definitely on the horizon, and that will most assuredly bring with it an increase in initiation fees. So now is the best time to make sure your families, best friends, and business colleagues become part of Greystone.

The Lakeside Activity Center fundraising efforts are off to a great start, and we appreciate all of you who have already do- nated to the fund so far! I know that many are still planning to give, and we are confident that we will meet our goal of $500,000 and beyond. Your targeted donations will add two new resort-style water slides, a new adult bar area, new fencing & landscaping at the pool, plus build the adjoining pickleball, basketball, volleyball courts and surrounding park area. This is an excellent opportunity to show the support of your club and greatly enhance the enjoyment of members for generations to come! The quick- er we reach our goal, the sooner we can order the materials and start the construction. For more information, please con- tact Mr. Dave Porter or me. Also, be sure to watch your GGCC News emails for the latest details on the fundraising efforts, including a hyperlink that will allow you to make a one-time donation or have the donation spread out over the remainder of 2021 on your member statements. Let’s do this! In July, the Board of Directors will begin planning for next year and future years, including our goal to present the member- ship with the plans to expand and completely update the Legacy Clubhouse and back patio. Chambers has worked closely with your Board, staff, and obtained feedback from many of your Committees. We are so excited about what they have presented us, and we know that you will be just as excited when you see what they are recommending. Chambers will be hosting a series of town hall meetings will take place in the late July to mid-August time frame to gain your feedback. Our goal is to have a definite construction plan that can be voted on in the Fall. There are still several key components to work through during this final planning process, including monitoring the escalating construction costs this year. The Board is committed to working diligently during this entire process to ensure that the final product enhances the value and enjoyment of your membership here at Greystone. The newly formed Historical Committee will hold its first meeting in July. One of our immediate goals will be to help plan the 30th Anniver- sary Celebration of Greystone’s founding. We have so much to be thankful for over the past 30 years. So many of our wildest dreams are at our fingertips, and many of them are already coming to reality. One of the primary goals of this committee will be to constantly communicate how with foresight, determination, and hard work, our dreams can come true.

Thanks for being such a great group of members and for supporting YOUR club!

See you at The Stone,

Dale Gorham Club President, 2021
