YOUTH ASSOCIATIONS

CITY-AFFILIATED YOUTH SPORTS ASSOCIATIONS The City of Shakopee oversees all city-affiliated sports associations; however, each is governed by a board of directors that meets regularly and sets policies for its own association independent of the city and Shakopee School District. All positions are filled by volunteers. Input from parents, coaches and interested individuals is always welcome. These associations set their own registration dates and procedures. PRACTICE DATES AND TIMES ShakopeeWest Middle School Wrestling Room, 200 10th Ave. E. Day Dates Time Grade Cost

The youth wrestling program is designed for boys and girls PreK through fifth grade. The 2020-21 season starts in November and concludes with the MN/USA State Tournament in March. Participants can extend their season to learn Freestyle techniques (March-May). Tournaments are available most weekends; however, tournament costs are not included with the registration fee. A parent meeting will be held virtually via Zoom at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 5. This meeting will provide details on the upcoming season, practice information, introduce the coaching staff and provide an opportunity for parents to ask questions. Registration opens in September. The link will be sent once registered. If you are unsure about registering before the parent meeting, please email symcsabers@gmail.com for the link.

Registration Online: www.shakopeewrestling.com. Uniform and volunteer deposits (two separate checks) required at first week of practice. Practice days and times are subject to change based on CDC COVID-19 guidelines. Advance notice will be given prior to any changes.

GIVE WRESTLING A TRY NIGHT The club is hosting a free night of practice for anyone who wants to try out wrestling. This practice is for kids who have never wrestled before (any age). Participants will be limited to 20 wrestlers; sign up at www.signupgenius.com/ go/70A0D4EAAAA28A7F85-give. We will host a Q&A for parents new to the sport of wrestling.
