The Shakopee Girls Basketball Association provides opportunities for youth in grades 1-8 to participate in in-house and travel basketball programs. Each of the following programs place emphasis on skill development. GRADE 1 & 2 IN HOUSE This program is an introduction to basketball. A strong emphasis on fundamentals in a fun and non-competitive atmosphere. Teams will be formed and games will be incorporated (as circumstances allow). Volunteer coaches are needed, and all coaches will receive training. Skills training with Varsity Coach Mitchell and varsity players will take place during the season.

Our travel program offers a more competitive experience for your fourth-eighth-grader. The season begins in October with twice-a-week practices and eight to 10 weekend tournaments throughout the season, concluding with the

state tournament in March. Travel Team Evaluations

Each grade level will participate in one day of each week. The days will be determined based on number of kids at each grade level. Players are required to attend both sessions. Players must register, pay fee and the $300 per family fundraiser deposit before evaluations begin. Shakopee High School, 100 17th Ave. W. GRADE 3 & 4 IN HOUSE Fundamentals will continue to be the focus. Emphasis on shooting, dribbling, passing, pivoting, spacing and building a good basketball IQ. Volunteer coaches are needed and will receive training. Games will be refereed and played in a non-competitive atmosphere (as circumstances allow). Skills training with Varsity Coach Mitchell and varsity players will take place during the season. The season traditionally ends with a year-end tournament.
