VISION AND MISSION

In developing a master plan, it is important to establish a vision and mission for the Departments to guide their efforts into the future. Vision is a declaration of what the Department wants to be known for and Mission indicates how they will get there. The following vision has been developed based on elements of the Comprehensive Plan and input from staff across multiple city departments: SHAKOPEE PARKS AND RECREATION VISION STATEMENT The vision of the Parks and Recreation Department is to help develop Shakopee into a community of choice to live, work, and play for existing and future residents, by developing innovative and high quality parks, trails, natural areas, cultural resources, and recreation programming. We will enhance Shakopee’s economy, quality of life, image, and sense of community for all residents.

SHAKOPEE PARKS AND RECREATION MISSION STATEMENT Shakopee will maintain high quality facilities, continue to develop innovative parks and trails, and implement relevant programming by maximizing all available resources.
