It must be said that we were foolish, our ideas were clumsy, since we had no world to set against the ‘old world’. A few patchwork improvements, some concessions, small reforms—often appealing, but not compatible with a real revolution. We raised our voices because we had nothing to say. And we said nothing, for that matter.
