Trafika Europe 14 - Italian Piazza

WASHED AWAY FROM THE PUSH AND SHOVE

The calendar is jumbled, dry land deformed in the play of water and wind, all of this far from the next house; railroad lines discontinued, places and times blanked in journals, clams of sleepless nights crushed and stored away thirty feet underground. But this could happen anywhere, among the rushing clouds, for instance, above a rectified, greened ocean, at midnight under ceaseless air traffic. Or among photographs that open up and let everyone in, into tomorrow, into days past; everything grows near, und there, on the table in the farthest corner of the walled garden, a glass of cherry juice against a faraway thunderstorm, a tree reaching into clouds with naked branches, a swing with frayed ropes; and thousands of shores later, there’s rustling, rippling where water washes up on chunks of music and silence.
