SO YOU’VE DIED
So you’ve died, just look, the clouds are scurrying, scattering heedlessly, move in sync with the sea; now look down, or up, and listen to the song of the flying fish, they chase after the birds, and hear the wondrous silence of the bones; out of habit, they still re-enact your body, even though you’ll no longer need this meager scaffolding; and look, that little wagon there, filled with your badly worn shoes and threadbare clothes, along with household stuff left behind—that alone is reason to die, too much weight; and feel the wind, it goes out of its way to reach you, carry you— it won’t leave you alone. Give in, listen to it, and be quiet.
