TE20 Migrant Mosaics

Carlos Gámez Pérez Carlos Gámez Pérez (born in Barcelona, Spain in 1969) has a doctorate in romance studies from the University of Miami and a master’s in creative writing from Pompeu Fabra University. He won the Cafè Món award in 2012 for his short story collection, Artefactos . Since then, he has published a number of novels, stories, and essays. Recently, he has taught writing workshops with the Spanish Cultural Center in Mexico City, and he continues to collaborate with various literary journals. TE 20-6 Annie Ernaux Annie Ernaux (born in Yvetot, France in 1940) explores women, motherhood, and familial relations inmuchof herwork. Her novel, Les La Place (translated into English as AMan’s Place ) (1984), won the Renaudot Prize. Rather than purely fiction, Ernaux writes autobiographical narratives, drawing on her experience in rural France and with her family. Mémoire de fille (2016) is her latest novel and appears here as A Girl’s Story (2020) in translation by Alison Strayer. TE 20-7 Márton Simon Márton Simon (born in Kalocsa, Hungary in 1984) currently resides in Budapest. He began his career in 2010 with Dalok a magasföldszintről (some of which are excerpted in English here as Songs for 3:45 am ). The other poems come from his latest collection, Rókák esküvője ( Fox Wedding ) (2018). In addition to writing, he also translates works from English and Japanese into Hungarian. TE 20-8
