Six poems

Gabor Schein

Gábor Schein (b. in Budapest, 1969) is a Hungarian poet, novelist, playwright, critic and scholar. His writing explores the symptomatology of historical amnesia, of tradition understood as both passing-on and betrayal; it is characterized

by a relentless exploration of, and critical attitude to, the political valences of language. Schein is Associate Professor of Modern Hungarian Literature in Budapest; he has also taught modern German literature and aesthetics, and published extensively on the history of 20th century Hungarian and German literature. A notably beautiful essay of his on the topography of trauma in Budapest was recently published in Music and Literature , here .
