Piql Services Where do we come from and where are we going?

FROM NORWAY TO HOLLYWOOD Piql AS was founded in Drammen, Norway, in 2002, then with the name Cinevation. The ambition was to bridge the gap between the analogue and digital world in the motion picture industry. The result was Cinevator, a digital film re- corder that printed movies to 35mm film 100 times fast- er than its competitors. This was the start of an industrial adventure; Cinevator became the world’s leading film printer.

Norway, Brazil and Mexico were the first nations to deposit some of their most important data in Mine no. 3, a state owned mine that housed the Global Sead Vault when it first opened in 1984.

Some years back the market started to decline as cinemas were digitized, and we needed to change our focus accordingly. Piql is now focusing on a new business area; securing long-term future access to valuable, digital data.

MARKET STRATEGY AND BUSINESS MODEL Technology leadership combined with strategic brand-building form a solid foundation for becoming the preferred provider within a fast growing global niche market. We go to market through an established network of Piql Partners who targets clients in their own national markets. Through our Partners we offer: • Managed services of ultra-secure data storage and/or long-term preservation of digital data. • Sales of Piql Systems to clients that prefer in-house production.

LONG-TERM GOALS Within the next 10 years we aim to have established 50 Piql Part- ners around the world and to have 100 Piql systems in operation .

DELIVERED SERVICES Many industries and government institutions have commercial, legal or social responsibilities to keep data for more than 20 years. Piql has clients in different types of industries, and has fo- cused on the following six segments to build specified solutions and use cases.
