ACT Reviews 2022-2023 Season
cartoons. Playing the “kooky” family” the actors have to get it right, at the same time adding their own personal stamp to the characterisations. The main story is centred around Wednesday and a dinner party being given for her boyfriend and his parents. We first meet Lurch, the grunting butler, played by Rob Nixon, Rob delivered the physical comedy of the character and was rewarded with the audience laughing out loud The children are Pugsley and Wednesday. Cory Levick-Jones, as Pugsley, gave a refreshing portrayal, full of purpose and personality. Crossbow carrying Wednesday wants just “One normal night” to entertain her fiancé; Chloe Parr gave a rounded performance as Wednesday. Her scenes with Sean Clark-Wilkinson as her intended Lucas were believable and their duet, “Crazier Than You” showcased their commanding voices. There is one member of this family Grandma; in fact, whom nobody knows whose grandma she is. Mary Bolide is a strong character actress and was very watchable. Then there is Uncle Fester complete with the sub plot of his love affair with the moon. Paul Birchall teased out the humour and gave a romantic rendition of “The Moon and Me”.
