1 PLASMA BALL A 200mm diameter Plasma ball. The unit may be used for illustrating E=hv, capacitance effects and voltage breakdown of gases. Cat No. Description Price Per OPL-500-100 Plasma Ball 42.26 ea. 2 PHOTODIODE A semiconductor diode that converts light into current. Designed to demonstrate the principle of solar cells. Using a 60W bench lamp the device can be used to show what voltage is produced at varying distances. Cat No. Description Price Per OPL-315-100 Photodiode 12.95 ea. 3 PHOTOTRANSISTOR A light sensitive transistor can be used to demonstrate the principle of energy conversion. The behavior is similar to to that of a photodiode but the voltage produced is higher. Cat No. Description Price Per OPL-325-100 Phototransistor 12.95 ea. 4 SPIRAL LIGHT GUIDE A rigid acrylic spiral light guide, designed to show internal reflection and refraction. The spiral guide demonstrates how light can be transmitted along a reflective rod, due to internal reflection, in the same way that light is transmitted along an optical fibre. Manufactured using optical grade acrylic. Acrylic rod diameter 10 mm. Overall dimensions: 75 x 120 mm approx. Cat No. Description Price Per OPL-970-100 Spiral Light Guide 19.80 ea. 5 YOUNG’S SLITS A series of slides, each with a double slit, to demonstrate Young’s experiment, where a coherent light source is shone through the slits to produce a interference pattern when projected onto a screen. The wavelength of light can then be determined from measurements taken from the interference pattern. These are 35mm slides, mounted in 50mm slide holders . Three slit spacings are available: 0.1, 0.5 & 1.0 mm. The slit separation is measured from slit cen- tre to slit centre. In each case, the slit width is half the separation distance. Cat No. Description Slit Distance Price Per OPL-950-100 Young’s Double Slits 0.1mm 16.63 ea. OPL-950-150 Young’s Double Slits 0.5mm 16.63 ea. OPL-950-200 Young’s Double Slits 1mm 16.63 ea.
