Terms & Conditions
Please obtain a buyer ’ s number at the office prior to the auction. You must have a buyer ’ s number in order to purchase horses. A driver ’ s license or some other form of positive identification will be required. Sale management reserves the right to refuse buyers. Must be 16 years old in order to obtain a buyer ’ s number. If you cannot attend the sale in person, we urge you to make ar rangements with Agape Boarding School prior to sale day for proxy bid or telephone bidding. For telephone bids, call 307 - 949 - 0602. The order of the auction may not be consecutive with the corre sponding numbers of each horse as listed in the catalog. The highest bidder will become owner. If any dispute arises be tween bidders, sole authority is reserved by the auctioneer to settle the dispute, as he sees fit. His decision shall be final, and he also reserves the right to reject any or all bids. Horses are offered for sale according to Missouri law, and sellers reserve the right to bid in this sale. Title passes to buyer at the fall of the hammer, at which time buyer assumes all expense, risk and responsibility for the horse, but no loading or delivery will be made until final settlement and payment has been completed. Delays in removing horses from the sale site must be approved by sale management. The buyer must make ar rangements for the care, loading, and delivery of horse(s) not taken on sale day. Halters and lead ropes will be provided by seller. All accounts must be paid (in U.S. funds) immediately following the sale, via cash or personal check with valid ID. WE CANNOT ACCEPT PAYMENT BY CREDIT CARD.
A copy of the registration paper will be provided to the buyer of each horse. Horses registered with the American Quarter Horse Assoc. (AQHA) are subject to a $15 transfer fee, which will be as sessed to the buyer along with awarded bid payment. Transfers for cash payments will be given to the buyer immediately after the sale. Transfers for check payments will be held until bank deposit is cleared, a process that normally takes two weeks. Upon completion of transfer, registration papers will be sent to buyer di rectly from AQHA. Upon receipt of registration, buyers should check the paper information for each horse purchased and report any discrepancies directly to AQHA. All horses will have papers showing a negative Coggins test. Out - of - State health papers are the responsibility of the buyer. The sale management and auctioneer act as agents for the seller, but assume no liability for either buyer or seller. Any representations made by the sales management are made on behalf of the seller. Every effort has been made to ensure correctness of the catalog, but sellers assume no responsibility for errors or omissions. In case typographical or other errors are discovered in the printed sale cata log, efforts will be made to have the auctioneer announce them. Buyers are advised to pay close attention to such announcements, as statements made on sale day take precedence over printed material. All persons attending the sale do so at their own risk. We are very excited to have Curt Pate come and put on a clinic for our boys. This Clinic will be directed toward our boys but will also serve as a preview of our horses that will be in the sale. The clinic will be absolutely free for spectators to watch, to learn, and to ask questions as one of the greater clinicians of our time shares his knowledge and expertise with our boys and those that wish attend. Please do not bring any horses with you. Only the sale colts will be allowed in the clinic. This is a wonderful opportunity to improve both your stockmanship and your horsemanship. You will also have a chance to see how our colts respond to different situations involving cattle, ropes, and obstacles. Even if you have little interest in buying a horse, you will not want to miss this opportunity.
The sale will kick off at 1:00pm. At the start of the sale, we will be raffling off many
prizes. All you need is to be present with a registered buyer’s number in order to be
eligible for the drawings. Of course, there is no charge to obtain a buyer’s number. Be
sure to be in your seats at 1:00pm sharp because at that time, we will start drawing
names for the door prizes, and the very first prize to be given away is the Tom Balding
snaffle bit with custom headstall. There will be several other prizes that will be
given away including knives, saddle pads, a Yeti cooler, and more!
The last and final prize to be given away will be a handmade saddle that was made
specifically for this sale.
The saddle tree for this saddle was made and donated by arguably the best tree maker
in the industry, Dusty Smith of WYO Saddles and Trees out of Buffalo, Wyoming. The
saddle built on it will be awarded to the winner of the high selling horse.* *Only the horses that are being sold by Agape are eligible for this prize. Outside consignment horses are not eligible.

Hanna started out as a student’s horse but proved to be a bit much for him so she
was given to one of our staff. She was very watchy and reactive but never once
offered to buck. Scott has put a lot of time on this horse. He’s sorted cows in an
alley and roped steers with a breakaway on her and she handled both very well.
She’s soft and fun to ride.

and herd sour, but he’s kept with her and has turned her into a horse that’s quiet

Leo, with his dappled coat, is probably one of the flashiest palomino’s we are
offering in this year’s sale. Being ridden mostly in a halter, this horse shows a lot
of feel and softness. Steven has an affinity for animals and came to colt class to
be around the horses. Leo is a good minded and willing horse who has been great at
helping Steven get started in Colt Class.

Jazz may just be a sorrel but under saddle this horse really looks good. He’s
athletic and shows a lot of potential tracking the Smarty. If any horse has the
potential to be an all-around ranch horse this is the one. Nobody loves their horse
more than Preston loves Jazz. His enthusiasm to ride his horse and be in class is

Rojo has a calcium deposit on his back but has been examined by a veterinarian. He has never been
the slightest bit sore, even under saddle and being ridden consistently. Rojo is very laid back, but
really frees up out in the pasture. Taylor has a lot of enthusiasm for working with horses and is
hungry for information. He’s not afraid to take direction and is willing to do anything to make Rojo
the best horse he can be. Rojo is a really gentle horse and will be big enough o handle any job on
the ranch.

Chip is a solid 15 hands at least. Had a lot of exposure for a 3 year old. He has gathered and sorted cattle,
been trail ridden, flagged colts, and roped some slow cattle. He has also had exposure to the ranch horse
events.
He’s got some go and can cover country. Pretty decent little handle.
If laid off he has humped up( more like gets a big bow in his back) but that’s about it
At the ranch horse show he was tracking right along with the steer, you have to circle and I had to push him up
past the steer, and he kicked up, he wanted to stay back and rate the steer.

Hyde is a beautiful 4 yr old buckskin gelding standing just over 15 hands tall. He should mature to 15.1-15.2.
I have had this horse since he was a yearling. He has been hauled dozens of times to go to brandings and day work around
Missouri, Oklahoma, and Kansas. This horse has roped live cattle on several occasions, ridden on several different ranches,
and been in both a starting yard/ small feedlot setting. He has had a very easy career. He has not been overused or blown up
in any way. I have caught this horse after 3 months off, saddled him up, and gone. He is not dull. He has good body control and
could go any direction someone wished to take him. This horse has a long career ahead of him and is still learning so I would
not recommend for an inexperienced rider.
Last year (2021) Hyde placed 3rd in the Ride Prosperously ranch horse futurity earning his first paycheck.
He loads, bathes, stand for farrier/ vet with no issues. This horse does have a scar/ swollen area on his left hind leg from an
old injury. He is vet checked sound and it does not affect him in any way. He has outstanding hooves that require very little
maintenance. You will be hard pressed to find a horse as put together conformationally as this horse.

Faith is possibly one of the best minded fillies in the sale. This is Paul’s first year to
the program and he’s done a great job bringing her along. She wanted to test him
initially but he wouldn’t let her get away with anything he didn’t ask of her. Now
she’s a horse you can trust to pull out of the pasture and go do a job. She’s been a
great match for Paul.

Goose is flashy, cowy, and quiet, but if you need to ask more of this horse she will
give it to you. For coming to us with no experience, Lukas has done a really good
job with this mare. Her calm, collected mind really lends itself to our program. A
great balance of disposition and grit.

Cinco may not have the flashiest color but this horse is a sleeper. He has had two different
students on him and he’s proven to be gentle, very forgiving, and willing to work with the rider.
With a more experienced rider who wanted to ask more out of him, Cinco would give it to him. He’s
one of the last geldings out of our Gumbo Roany stud. David is another first timer to Colt Class.
He’s been on several of our colts, applied himself, and has found his fit with Cinco.

Hannibal is going to make someone really happy. Every job and obstacle we’ve presented to this
horse he’s met with confidence and a clear mind. He has a lot of feel and even wants to collect
when asked to back up and when moving out. Avery believes his horse to be soft in every way. He’s
never been on a horse before joining class and admits that if you’d have put him next to a horse
before coming to Agape he would have walked away, but now he enjoys being around them. He’s been
this horse’s sole rider and has shown talent as Hannibal has turned into a really nice horse.

Sylvia has a lot of life. Though she can be a handful, she’s never offered to buck. She’s been ridden
by several students and staff, and has become a personal favorite of those who have been on her.
She’s very light and responsive and has a nice stop to her. Sylvia is watchy, always aware of her
surroundings, and one who would benefit from a more experienced rider. Wesley is currently riding
her, a repeat to Colt Class, he has taken what he has learned from the previous year and has
applied it to Sylvia with good success.

Fancy Pants is flashy and friendly. One of the prettiest horses in the pen and one of the first to
greet you at the gate. John is the second student to ride this mare and has only been with her a
handful of weeks, through him Fancy Pants is revealing previously undiscovered potential. John has
taken a lot of initiative to learn horsemanship as well as grow as person through this year’s colt
class. He plans to have a career in the horse industry and we are proud of his progress and excited
to see what his future holds.

Orphan Annie is a cow horse, one of the cowiest in the sale. We’ve had her tracking the Smarty and
cutting out steers and she shows a lot of talent. As her name states, Annie was an orphan who we
bottled fed. As a result she didn’t learn manners from her mother and was very pushy and in your
pocket. Noah has done a really great job with this mare. She gave him some trials but he’s seen her
through every one. He really likes her for her toughness and athleticism.

Regal may not be the best looking horse in the pen but give him a chance and he’ll surprise you. At the start of
class this horse was tough to get along with but through the perseverance of his rider, Melvyn, this horse has
come around. Melvyn got a late start to Colt Class. He had never been around horses but has shown a natural
ability for working with them. Despite the challenges Regal presented, Melvyn never wanted to give up on him.
In turn, this horse has taught him horsemanship and life lessons. Regal has done a number of ranch jobs and
when he’s freed up he moves really nice and is willing to move out on his own. He needs consistency, but if
you’re willing to give him the time, he will make you a good horse.

Jimmy is a Cutter Bill bred gelding, which is a line invaluable to our program for
their easy disposition and trainability. Jimmy has proven this by being the same horse
every day through every job we’ve had him do. Craig has moved up through the
ranks in our program, proving himself to be a leader and that has carried through
with his time in colt class.

Dirty Salley, as we like to call her, is one incredible three year old. She has a tremendous amount
of feel and ability. Salley may not be a good fit for someone that is wanting to just go slow, but she
will work like a machine and love every bit of it. It was obvious from the start that Salley would
not be a good fit for a boy with no experience because she just thinks at high speed. All of her train
ing has been done by the staff here. She has been to Wyoming to brand calves, and she has had a
part in every aspect of ranch work. This mare is the ranch manager’s number 1 pick of the sale.

BJ at six years old is the oldest horse we are offering at the sale. He was started as a three year
old then turned out to pasture and used as a stud up until last year. He’s not as far along in his
education as other horses his age. Because of his lack of training he’s been ridden mostly by staff.
BJ is quiet, gentle, and stout. We have drug and tagged calves out in the pasture on him. BJ does
have scar tissue on his front leg from getting it caught in a gate this summer, but has been
completely sound. We will have a complete examination of his injury done by a vet before the sale.

Trusty is a three year old gelding. Our staff member, Scott, has been riding him
since this spring and over the summer this horse has really matured. Trusty has
heeled and drug calves in the branding pen and tagged calves out in the pasture.
Trusty can get a little tight when something spooks him. He’s going to be a nice, big
gelding, optimum for ranch work.

Bootstrap is a three year old, though small for his age he has a lot of go. He has been one of the
easiest horses to start. He’s willing to travel out by himself and give you everything he’s got, and if
you step off him in the middle of the pasture tagging calves he will stand still right where you put
him. Bootstrap has been ridden by Jacob through obstacle courses, pushing cows, tagging calves
out in the pasture, and even taken to Wyoming over the summer to brand calves.

Gypsy is a three year old filly, small for her age, but very well put together. Staff
member Justin has been the sole rider on this horse. She can be watchy but is very
willing, Justin believes she shows a lot of promise on cows. He has heeled and
drug several calves on her and despite her size she has held them very well. Gypsy
will give you a full days work if you asked it of her.

DJ is a horse that from the start he was a challenge. When he was first startedhe quickly got a reputation for
bucking when he was bothered and unfortunately that has never left him. We gave him to staff to ride and they got
along with him quite well. They were able to go do about any job on him and found he moves out great. We thought
this horse had matured enough to be given to a student but it became evident that this horse is too much for a rider
without a lot of experience. He has reverted back to bucking and has since been worked with solely by staff. This
horse has a tight spot in him that may never go away entirely, but in the right hands this horse has proven that he can
make a nice little mount.

Bonita is a three old mare as elegant and graceful as they come. An eye catcher
wherever she goes. With any job or obstacle she’s faced, she’s moved out easily
and calmly. At the start of class Tim was a little timid, but Bonita has helped him
overcome that and with her his confidence has grown in leaps and bounds. Tim has a
desire to work with horses in the future and we believe that he will be successful.
The Ride Prosperously Ranch Horse Futurity is to be run in
conjunction with the Ride Prosperously Production sale.
This ranch futurity will give owners of our horses an opportunity to showcase their horses ’ abilities as well as all the skill and work of the trainers who are riding them. The challenges are designed to highlight everyday working ranch horse duties and talents.

— - This futurity is for 3 and 4 year old horses that were raised on the Agapé Ranch and purchased from either our production sale or through private treaty.

— - Horses competing in our futurity are not required to sell in our sale; nor are the horses that are consigned to our sale required to compete in our futurity.

This year we will be offering a handful of nice yearling prospects. These young horses have lots of potential and have had a good but limited amount of exposure to people. They have spent most of their lives out in pasture learning what it means to be a horse and to grow up on grass. They are ready to enter a new phase of life in someone ’ s quality program.
All of these yearlings are halter broke. They lead, tie, load in trailers, and stand decent to have their feet trimmed.
These horses are all up to date on vaccines and are guaranteed sound and healthy.
This year, we had an abundance of good fillies. We are therefore offering ten fillies and only two colts. We are also very excited to be able to offer to you our very first crop of Irish Draught (‘ draft ’) and Quarter Horse crosses. These horses will not be registered but they come out of some of our finest AQHA mares and are sired by a very fancy foundation bred Registered Irish Draught stud.
Remember, all of these young prospects will be eligible for our futurity when they are both three and four years old.

What Should I Expect from An Agapé Horse?
(At the Time of Sale)
A horse that is healthy and sound A horse that is used to being tied at a hitching rail A horse that leads well A horse that stands to be saddled A horse that stands to be mounted A horse that loads well in a trailer A horse that is not barn sour or spoiled A horse that walks, trots, lopes, stops, and turns left and right A horse that is respectful A horse that has been and can be shod all the way around A horse that crosses water A horse that has been exposed to cattle and ranch work A horse that has been exposed to ropes and tarps A horse that has been through the “hard part” of training A horse that has been ridden as much “outside” as in an arena or round -pen. What are the Three Worst Traits That I Might Expect
to Experience with My Agapé Horse?
A hard mouth — Our boys have a tendency to be heavy handed as they are learning. The colts will soften up in the right hands. Wrong leads —We don’t lope a lot of circles here, mostly because the boys have a hard time recognizing the wrong lead. A desire to be with other horses — We often must ride out in groups; nonetheless, the horses will ride off alone without much trouble.
Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.” No one is good enough to go to Heaven on their own merit. No matter how much good we do, we still fall short.
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death...” Just as there are wages for good, there is punishment for wrong. The penalty for our sin is eternal separation from God in Hell.
