New mill for steel company

The scope of supply comprises the 3-roll reducing and sizing block with automatic quick stand changing system, the roll shop with quick roll change, the mill configuration program Bamicon, the inline remotely controlled pass and guide adjustment and Capas, the computer-aided system for accurate adjustment of rolls and guides of the 3-roll stands in the roll shop. Supervision of erection, comm- issioning and training of customer personnel are also Kocks’ resp- onsibility. The start-up of the new medium section mill incorporating the 3-roll reducing and sizing block will enable Daye to meet the set target of becoming the most competitive future-orientated special steel company in its market. It will be operated as finishing block in the 900,000t/a medium section mill downstream the 16-stand 2-high roughing and intermediate mill. The RSB rolls round bar in special bar qualities within the range of 50mmØ to 130mmØ in straight lengths onto the cooling bed. The reducing and sizing block allows rolling out of only one pass series from the roughing and intermediate mill and significantly reduces the number of required feeders down to only five. DAYE Special Steel Co Ltd, part of the Chinese CITIC Pacific Steel Group, will install a medium section mill in Huangshi, southeast of Hubei province, approximately 150km southwest of Wuhan. The order for the finishing mill, a 3-roll reducing and sizing block (RSB), was placed with the German company Friedrich Kocks. The decision in favour of this machinery was highly influenced by the performance and the trouble-free operation of the RSB in Daye’s existing speciality bar mill. Daye is one of the largest special steel producers in the country. The products are widely recognised and accepted by both domestic and international companies and are used in nearly all fields of application.
