Tami Purcell Burklund

Tami Purcell grew up in Dripping Springs, TX just south of Austin where she thought she would become a fireman just like her grandfather. She changed her mind and jumped in feet first into horse racing. Tami tells a story about one horse everyone told her not to ride and not even to get on him. She won that race by four lengths and found out later he was one of the last sons of Go Man Go. She has won every major Quarter Horse race and is

Kip Rosenthal Dr. Kip Rosenthal earned an AAS in early childhood education, a B.S. in psychology, a Master’s Degree in education and psychology, and a PhD in psychology. An avid equestrian, Kip has competed with the USET in a few competitions. She started her business, Benchmark Farms, in 1985 and many of her students won all of the National In 1996, Tami won the AQHA’s Mildred N. Vessels Award for Special Achievement in American Quarter Horse Racing. In 2000 she left racing to join the professional barrel-racing circuit and is a two-time Wrangler Nationals Finals Rodeo Qualifier the only woman to have ever won the All American Futurity, riding a filly name Corona Cash in 1997, and the Champion of Champions in 1996 aboard Dashing Folly. When she retired from racing in 2000, Tami was Quarter Horse racing’s all-time leading female rider of money earners. She rode in 9,475 horse races - winning 2,142 including 87 stakes wins.

Equitation Finals. Some more than once! Several horses she has trained have been Horse of the Year in Green Conformation, Junior Hunter, Junior Jumper, and Amateur Owner Jumper Divisions. Kip has judged all of the National Equitation Finals as well as many of the most prestigious horse shows in the U.S.A.! She has also written ar- ticles for Chronicle Of The Horse, Practical Horse- man and Today’s Equestrian. Kip has been actively involved with United State Equestrian Federation as a member on the Equitation Committee, License Official Committee, Trainers Certification Pro- gram, and the Emerging Athletes Program.
