Avigail - a year at Schneider Children’s Avigail, 3, has been in the care of the Hemato-Oncology Department since she was 2 after a tumor was discovered in her spine. The department at Schneider Children's was founded by a team of specialists headed by Israel Prize laureate for Medical Research, the late Prof. Rina Zaizov. Treatment of children with cancer at Schneider Children's is on a par with leading centers in the world. Success rates for all types of childhood cancer are above 85 percent. The staff follows international protocols for pediatric cancer care that dramatically increases survival rates. אביגיל - שנה בשניידר אביגיל, בת שלוש, מטופלת במסגרת המערך ההמטו-אונקולוגי מאז היותה בת שנתיים, לאחר שהתגלה גידול בעמוד השדרה שלה. הטיפול בילדים חולי סרטן בשניידר הוא ברמה של המרכזים המובילים בעולם והתוצאה היא אחוזי ריפוי של מעל אחוז בסוגים שונים של סרטן בילדים. צוות המערך משתתף 85 בפרוטוקולים טיפוליים בינלאומיים באונקולוגיית ילדים, המקדמים בצורה משמעותית ביותר את הטיפול בילדים חולי סרטן ואת אחוזי ההחלמה. המערך ההמטו-אונקולוגי בשניידר נוסד על ידי צוות מומחים בראשותה של זוכת פרס ישראל לחקר הרפואה, פרופ' רנה זייצוב ז"ל.
