office and comes with over thirteen years of experience in the industry. Aaron has been part of the background work for the MSVCC and also worked with Terry and Christian some during the phasing period. ii. Individual servers have been created and deployed for those schools who requested them. Terry provided the managing groups document to the seven schools that requested the individual servers. If you were not in attendance and did not receive one of those handouts, please contact Terry. iii. System Administrator Workshops. Both Hinds and Holmes have had representatives go through the System Administrator workshops for Wimba. This training is for non- instructional use only. Most of the tools will be done through the Blackboard environment, but needed an external access point for those non-instructional uses (administrative meetings, etc). This server administrator that you designate from your institution would be the same as your Bb administrator. The decision you make should be well informed. Would like to schedule two to three more live workshops. iv. Each school will need to have a system administrator, as well as a secondary contact. For those schools who do not have individual servers, you will still be on the combined/shared server. Any requests for users and/or rooms should go through Terry Pollard or Christian Pruitt. v. We need to go ahead and schedule a couple of other live sessions within the next month. Live sessions allow participants to ask specific questions that relate to their institution. Tentatively Monday, February 16 th from 10am – 12p.m. CST works the best for the group. Aaron will check with scheduling and will confirm with Terry Pollard. If that date is not available they will attempt to schedule it the on Tuesday, February 17 th from 10a.m.- 12p.m. CST. Archives will be available, which is not typical for this type of training. Please do not share that outside your server administrative group. There are already server default settings, users, and groups that have already been created. Server administrators do to need to touch those that already exist. vi. Jesse was able to get a group discount for anyone who is interested in attending the Wimba conference in April. They are also offering a certified training program through the pre-conference workshops. We encourage anyone interested in attending the pre- conference workshop. You may also want to sign up as a member of the users group for the possibility of winning an expense paid trip to the conference. vii. MSVCC Teaching Effectively Online Course – using Wimba. Terry Pollard has started working on developing a professional development course using Wimba. Terry reflected on all that he did when teaching in the classroom as well as online. The training began as a PDF guide and actually turned into a Wimba classroom training session. This is part of the MSVCC Strategic Plan in terms of training. Some of the outcomes include communicating with students as you would in a face-to-face classroom, how to evaluate the effectiveness of online in terms of student engagement, applying concepts learned using Wimba tools, etc. This course is separate from the MSVCC Teaching Effectively Online Course and is a three week training course. The course teaches participants how to create a podcast, and use the various pieces of each of the Wimba tools that we have. Audra asked if the different hardware tools are also included in the training. She has
