MELA Meeting Minutes 2003 - 2017

Wednesday, October 7 th and presentations will include Learning Objects, Blogs/Wikis/and Web 2.0, and resources for DLCs.

Please note that we will have thirty minute breaks throughout boot camp. We ask that you close your computers during the one hour sessions and only login to you computers, email, etc. during the thirty minute breaks. It is important that we all go and participate in these sessions. Please do not forget to bring your homework for the DLC boot camp. The first is the Day in the Life of a DLC. Bring items that help you in your day-to-day business activities. Share something that may benefit other DLCs. The second homework assignment is to think of something interesting about your college town or local community. Remember, the theme is stops throughout MS. (Example: does your local town or college have something of historical significance?). Respondus License Renewal Information (emailed on August 5 th ). The Lockdown browser is a link that we own. Just have the students/faculty/labs download it directly from the link Christian provided. ii. Enrollment Tool Role Data – need to make sure that we go through all of the current roles and then Ive will do a complete re-write of all roles and permissions. We can then attribute what data needs to be included into a particular role. Would like to hold off on the data from the ET. He would like to do this fairly quickly so that everything is updated by January 2010. Jennifer thought that Christian would be getting a spreadsheet from Ive so that we could evaluate the current roles to have this done by January. If this is too much trouble for Ive, then please let us know so that the DLCs can work on this or even send to the Enrollment Tool committee. Christian stated that the easiest thing to do is to use Audra’s old spreadsheet as a guide and to have the colleges look at the roles and permissions. The recommendation is to send to the Technology Committee and let the Enrollment Tool committee locate the spreadsheet and decide how we are going to evaluate the roles. If the technology committee should provide us with a plan during the October DLC meeting. iii. Transcripts in ET – what happens to the transcripts if a new file is uploaded? If the file name is the same, it will take the place of the “old” transcript. If the file has a different name, it will save both transcripts and you would need to delete the old transcripts. Christian is unsure if a script could be written to pull out the old data. iv. Course Evaluations as CSVs – would like to put this on hold until the new evaluations are written. The scoring is currently skewed and will need to be redone before we work on a calculation. Ive said that this could easily be done when we have the new evaluation tool in place. v. MSVCC Handbook – would like to put this on hold. He was unable to meet with the Administration Team meeting due to a budget meeting at SBCJC. He will continue to work with Tish on this so that it will be developed by spring 2010. vi. Course Build in ET – modify/duplicate buttons – Ive would like to keep this as is in the Enrollment Tool System. vii. Duplicating course causing seat number errors – Ive is completing a re-write of the script now. viii. Grade scoring on grade sheet in ET – Deans approved the grade distribution being added; however, we need to verify that both committees or on the same page. The DLC association is requesting a cumulative view of all students in the course. The data does
