According to Christian, we currently don’t have the SSL on for Blackboard. We had it on some point in the past, but it caused some issues. While it is off, a user on an unsecured wireless network can steal passwords to Blackboard. So Christian is asking if we would like to turn the SSL back on to eliminate this security problem. If we choose to turn this feature back on, Christian made it clear there is no work around for the re-authenticate issue. The problem seems to occur in Internet Explorer. When an external document is clicked on, Blackboard asks for the user to log into Blackboard. But it is not safe to have the SSL off. m. Blackboard App. This app will allow students that have low broadband have better access to Blackboard. But he app is very expensive. Christian told BlackBoard that we will not be purchasing the BB app. Sheri from USM advised that we do our homework before purchasing this app. They are having issues with the app. n. Christian is still working on getting a consultant to come in and help us make a decision about an LMS for our unique situation. The consultant will help us with the RFP process. o. Exinda Box. The Exinda box was purchased to help with the Internet traffic that goes between the State Board and the colleges. This box will allow more traffic during needed times.
