MELA Meeting Minutes 2003 - 2017

a. Best Practices – Jennifer Powell Until we get a Director of Professional Development and Training, we are unable to move forward with our objectives. This person helps in making decisions about what items need to be worked on and may want to provide new innovative ideas that need to be used to improve best practices. b. Technology –Holly Melvin @ July Meeting The only outstanding issue is to have the Enrollment Tool changed to a multi-semester type of system. So this item has been tabled until the July meeting. c. Quality –Jennifer Leimer @ August Meeting The committee discussed the last day students should be able to complete the course evaluation in the Enrollment Tool. Different options were discussed. Jennifer Leimer made a motion to open the evaluation at the beginning of week 8 and close the evaluation at the end of week 12 for Fall and Spring semester. For the summer semester, the evaluation will open at the beginning of week 4 and close at the end of week 6. Keri Cole seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Reminders will need to be sent by Christian or the MCCB so that we are sending the surveys out to the students when they are available.

d. Support –Krista LeBrun @ September Meeting Goals are ongoing and the committee has decided to table the objectives until the RFP has been completed. Krista will send out the data to the Support group and then to the group. e. Administration –Tish Stewart @ October Meeting There are items that need to be discussed as a committee. The committee will be meeting again after the ELC meeting.

a. Holmes –Elizabeth Spooner @ June Meeting All Holmes students (both on-campus and online students) can be advised online now. Holmes is using a form that was created by the IT Department that will allow the advisor to document and advise the student on what classes they need to take. This information is all posted within the “Doghouse”. Once the advisement is complete, the advisor can submit the request and the student receives an email of the recommended classes and comments. The students can log into the “Doghouse” and view the advisement report and they are also able to print it.
