Unfinished Business

a. MSVCC Resources page design The draft design for the MSVCC Resources page was passed around to each member of the group for suggestions and comments. If you have any suggestions about how to improve the site or items that need to be added or removed, please email those suggestions and changes to Akiah Gipson in the MCCB office. A recommendation was made to provide a proctoring center list of all the proctoring centers on the website. b. Fall 2013 grades due date No one had an issue with the Fall 2013 grades due date. If a college need grades earlier than the documented date, then please let the other colleges know. New Business a. ELC Association office nominations and election in May. Nominations were held for the upcoming year. Dr. Chris Jenkins was elected as President-Elect and Kimberly Ellis as Secretary. MCCB Business a. NBC Learn. In the upcoming week, the NBC Learn LTI will be installed on the beta environment for testing. This will allow an icon to be place in the Rich Content Editor, similar to the Youtube icon. b. Archive Environment for Blackboard. The contract for the archived environment has been sent to ITS. The contract is for only one admin. account per school for one year. The contract extension was approximately $43,000. c. BB IM. The .csv files need to be sent to the Blackboard Collaborate company for testing. The group questioned what files need to be sent. So Akiah will find out specifically which files need to be sent. These are the files that we are sending to Canvas. d. Textbook Listing. Akiah will document on the SquareSpace page the textbook links for each college. e. TurnItIn. To create an account with Turnitin there are two options: 1) you can create your own accounts or 2) someone at the college can create the account. If you create you create accounts for your instructors you will need the access code for your college. Akiah has the access codes for each college. f. Tutoring questionnaire. The majority of the group has selected NetTutor has the consortium’s tutoring service. NetTutor will be available for instructors and students starting July 1 st . The Smarthinking contract will end June 30, 2013, but the group expressed concern about the services being dismissed during a semester. So Akiah will look into extending our contract through the summer semester. We will customize the rules of engagement (Nettutor) for each college or as a group. Akiah will schedule state-wide training in the next month or so. g. MSVCC Academy link. The MSVCC Academy link needs to be added to the SquareSpace resource page. The group agrees that we need to push for Blackboard Collaborate to retrieve the files from Canvas so that ELCs do not have to send files to BB Collaborate.
