Open Forum

a. August Meeting (Kim Harris) i.

Kim Harris sent out a survey regarding the date of the upcoming August meeting. 17 participated, and the vote was to move the August 9 meeting to August 3 at 9 am.

b. eLearning Retreat (Kim Harris) i.

Kim will send out a form for those who plan to attend the retreat to fill out. RSVP by July 20 so Kim will know how many hotel rooms need to be booked (1 room per college will be provided). ii. Colleges should bring at least 1 door prize (no specific theme) to the retreat. Colleges can bring more if they wish – the more, the better! iii. ET Review, Strategic Planning, and the monthly ELC Meeting will take place at the retreat. c. Summer Schedules/Reinstates in 4-week classes/No Shows Over Holidays (Tish Stewart) i. Tish expressed that there were a lot of phone calls and issues dealing with 4-week courses. No Shows came in on a Thursday, many colleges were closed on Friday and then Monday, July 3 and Tuesday, July 4 for holiday break. So, processes were not complete in a timely manner, etc. Colleges should keep this in mind as the MSVCC starts to offer more 4-week courses. Buffy and Jennifer purchased Adobe Captivate and Animate software and training as part of their MILD Grant. 1. Adobe Captivate allows you to create modules that involve d. Captivate & Animate – MILD Training (Jennifer Leimer & Buffy Matthews) i.

audio/video/images/animation/interactivity/quizzes/question pools within videos/ADA. The Captivate training was a 5-day training (9am – 4 pm) in Atlanta, GA. It was exceptional training. 2. Adobe Animate 101 (formally Flash) was a 2-day training in Houston, TX. Training included graphics, animation, sound/video/variables. It may have been helpful to have some graphic design experience before attending training. 3. Cost was approximately $350 for Captivate license; and $240 for the Animate license. Cost was approximately $2,200 for training – not including meals, hotel, and travel. Jennifer and Buffy recommend the Captivate training based on the location, trainer, and overall experience.
