MELA Meeting Minutes 2003 - 2017

2) Discussion of F2F Meeting

a. Cisco is interested in hosting us for a meeting, and also many colleges have expressed that they miss the face-to-face meetings and collaboration amongst colleges. Krista will discuss future face-to-face MELA meetings with Kim Harris. Possibly, we can meet 1-2 times each semester.

3) RFP Web-Conferencing/IM

a. At the November ITS Board Meeting, NWN was approved . NWN is the company that will provide products such as Cisco, Spark, WebEx (IM, teleconferencing, white board, etc.). The first rough draft of contract is currently being reviewed by the Finance Division. After that, a final contract will come. NWS is expected to go before the MCCB Board to approve expenditure in January. After that, implementation and training will occur. NWS was reviewed by many folks with strong technical backgrounds that feel that the product will work as stated, but if it doesn’t we can get out of contract. b. Zoom was originally awarded, but could not meet the requirements as promised. Zoom still has a chance to contest the award but has not done so. Krista was confident that if Zoom does contest, it will not delay our progress with NWN. Krista will keep everyone in the loop moving forward.

B. Shalon Farris

1) SmarterProctoring

a. Colleges will go live in Spring 2018 with the new SmarterProctoring 2.0 system. All changes in the last demo should be complete by tomorrow, and the web conference tomorrow (11/13 at 1 pm) will demonstrate those changes with Roster Sync, etc. The demo will be recorded if you cannot attend.

2) BVirtual

a. Shalon had a meeting with SP and BVirtual regarding all of the issues we have been having. Priority for them is getting SmarterProctoring 2.0 to work well; however, their server space is also an issue. They will manually be adding videos if they are not available. Communication is lacking, so if you have an issue reach out to Sean Doty directly and copy Shalon Farris. If you still have issues with them responding, let Shalon know.

C. Brooke Doggett

1) MSVCC Academy Spring Schedule

a. The Spring 2018 Academy schedule has been posted to the Catalog, and some instructors have already started enrolling. The TEO classes and a few webinars are the only ones not posted yet. Brooke will email the group as soon as they are available.
