THE 2018 NON-GMO SOURCEBOOK

Important Note about Non-GMO Claims To be listed as a supplier in The 2018 Non-GMO Sourcebook , compa- nies must provide information on how they verify the non-GMO sta- tus of their products. This informa- tion is available with each company’s listing on our website: www.nong- mosourcebook.com. While this serves as an initial screen, we cannot guarantee or confirm the non-GMO claims of these companies . Non-GMO claims are verified by the supplier, the customer, and preferably, a third-party certifier. To protect themselves and their cus- tomers, suppliers that make non- GMO claims should implement rigorous systems of identity preser- vation/traceability combined with GMO testing and third-party verifi- cation to validate the accuracy of such claims. Likewise, companies that buy products claiming to be “non- GMO” should ask suppliers for doc- umented proof of such claims to protect their interests. The Non-GMO Project stan- dard is the most commonly accepted non-GMO verification program in North America (see page 96). Com- panies that have products verified through the Non-GMO Project are highlighted with the Non-GMO Project logo next to their com- pany listing. Editor’s Note

Welcome to The 2018 Non-GMO Sourcebook , the world’s only “farm to fork” directory to the global market for non-GMO foods.

As consumers worldwide continue to express concerns about the safety of genetically modified foods, the non-GMO food trend con- tinues to grow in the United States and worldwide. Non-GMO market growth This past year saw many examples of that growth and how non- GMO has become more established and mainstream: • There are more than 43,000 Non-GMO Project Verified products generating sales of $22 billion • More major food brands introduced non-GMO verified products including Triscuit, Smucker’s, Snyder-Lance, Imperial Sugar, Grassland Butter, and others • Leading yogurt maker Dannon introduced its first Non-GMO Project Verified products in- cluding Dannon Whole Milk Fruit Yogurt in eight flavors, Dannon Whole Milk Plain Yogurt in quart containers, and Danimals Smoothies in six flavors • Major ingredient companies including Bunge, Cargill, Tate & Lyle, and Ingredion intro- duced a wide range of Non-GMO Project Verified ingredients including lecithin, oils, starches, stevia, dry corn ingredients, maltodextrins, and others • A growing number of European Union member states including Germany, Austria, France, Luxembourg, Hungary, Slovenia, and Italy’s Tiro region have introduced non-GMO labeling programs on meat, dairy, and egg products • According to a 2017 online survey of 23,000 consumers from 17 countries conducted by mar- ket research firm GfK, 48 percent say that products not containing genetically modified in- gredients are “extremely” or “very” important to them • According to Packaged Facts , non-GMO is one of the top 10 food trends to watch in 2018. Global non-GMO directory The Non-GMO Sourcebook is the essential reference to this fast-growing market, featuring more than 800 suppliers of non-GMO and organic seed, grains, ingredients, feed, and food products, as well as related products and services. This year’s 17th edition contains suppliers of common and hard to find non-GMO ingredients— from enzymes and flavors to plant-based proteins and sweeteners. There are also a growing number of non-GMO feed suppliers, reflecting the increasing demand for non-GMO verified meat, dairy, and egg products. The Non-GMO food trend is global, as evidenced by the international non-GMO labels featured on this edition’s cover. Along with the U.S., Canada, the European Union, Japan, Korea, Australia, and China are all seeing a growing demand for non-GMO foods. As a result, The Non-GMO Source- book is a directory of global suppliers in all those regions. In addition to this print version, The Non-GMO Sourcebook is also available online as a free searchable database at www.nongmosourcebook.com. Whether you are a farmer looking for non-GMO seed or markets to sell crops, a food manufacturer needing non-GMO ingredients, or livestock producer wanting non-GMO feed, we hope The 2018 Non-GMO Sourcebook will be a valuable resource for your business. Best regards,

Ken Roseboro Editor and Publisher
