Get A-Head Of The Competition

Last issue we checked out AudioTechnica’s ATH-PDG1 and ATH-PG1 gaming headsets. This month, we’re kicking it up a notch with their closed-back ATH-AG1 and open-back ATH-ADG1.

ATH-AG1 For those unaware of the differences between open-back and closed-back headphones, you’re not alone. Put simply, the closed-back option offers a tighter fit and better noise-cancelling, while the open-back alternative is better for those that need to keep an ear out for peripheral noise (parents of newborns, we’re looking at you). The ATH-AG1 from Audio Technica is an impeccable-sounding headset. We’ve rarely heard anything so clear. Whether you’re playing games with your mates, listening to music or checking out a movie, the AG1’s sound quality proves hard to beat. And they’re comfortable to wear, too. The self-adjusting support wing system offers

ATH-ADG1 Closed-back headsets not your thing? Prefer to stay cooler in summer and actually be able to hear what’s going on around you? Look no further than the Audio Techinca ATH-ADG1. Offering the same

superb audio as the AG1s, this open-back headset will allow you to pay attention to the goings-on of your home,

whilst at the same time still immersing you in whatever you’re plugged into.

No matter where your interests lie, be it in immersive, undisturbed gaming or casual, carefree experiences, Audio Technica have you covered. Check out these headets online only at jbhifi.com.au. You won’t be disappointed.

As far as mics go, this one’s certainly up there. The AG1 mic length is just right, and its 100° rotation allows for perfect positioning.

no faults; we heard our enemies fall before us and that post-game VICTORY screen never sounded so good. Skype, Mumble and TeamSpeak all had no difficulties configuring the mic – even for push-to-talk – and everyone sounds as though they're sitting right next to you. Destiny sounded incredible. The AG1 was super simple to set up on the console, and the crystal clear audio signals when thralls are sneaking up on you – useful, considering how scary they are. All in all, the ATH-AG1 headset provides gamers with an impressive and immersive playing experience. They’re so comfortable, you don’t even know you’re wearing them most of the time; the wing support feels great on your head – after a bit of getting used to – and the cups around the ears never feel too tight. Though the price may deter some, believe us when we say they’re worth every penny. A high-class headset for a higher class of gamer.

– extended periods of gaming had no effect on the comfort factor. A 2m extension cable

The sound comes through clear, and the mute button is easily accessible (though perhaps would be better on an inline controller). We road-tested the AG1s with League of Legends on

PC and Destiny on PlayStation 4 – yes, you can use the AG1 on both! The PC had
