Just flick the switch– and Christmas is here!

THE Christmas feeling will arive in Thatcham when the town ’s lights are turned on. Bedecked in lights and decorations, The Broadway will once again become the town ’s festive focal point from 5pm on Friday, December 2. Steam engines, donkeys and charity stalls, offering games and prize draws all feature. Some businesses will also be staging their own events and staying open for longer on the night. There will be free parking in the Kingsland Centre all day. The mayor of Thatcham, Ellen Crumly, will perform the switch-on at 7pm. Town centre businesses are preparing for the coveted Best Christmas Display which this year has a panto theme. There will also be a town centre treasure hunt in the week running up to the evening. The town council newsletters will be distributed to homes at the end of November which contain a panto-themed wordsearch. Complete it and take it to the town council’s stall on the night for another chance to win a prize. Report by JOHN HERRING email john.herring@newburynews.co.uk twitter johnh_nwn
