ASSOCIATE Magazine FBINAA Q2-2026
A s I write this the Session 297 is firmly entrenched in their studies at the FBI Academy, the northeastern United States is getting hammered with snow and I am watching the waves crash against the southern California coast. Our world is AMAZING thanks in large part to its diverse people, climates and geography. Life is good! A couple years ago I was contacted by Greg Seel, NA Session 201, regarding some old photos he was given by a local citizen. Here is his note: I am writing in hope you can help locate the correct owners of this photograph. A generous citizen dropped this photograph off at the Burlington (North Carolina) Police Department late last year. They indicated they found it and wanted us to have it. It is clearly marked “Burlington Police Department – 1913.” And to be over 110 years old, it is in remarkably good shape. However, there is one problem; it is not the Burlington North Carolina Police Department. I checked with the nice folks at the Burlington, Vermont Police Department. They agreed it was a remarkable photo, but it was not their Police Department either. But that process took a while, so I was wondering if the Associate Magazine could help track down the correct Burlington Police Department. It’s a great piece of history, and clearly belongs on display where all can enjoy it. We want to get it to the correct agency. There are a few clues: On the back of the photo are some names of those in the photograph. • The couple in the center of the picture have the last name of Ranson or Ransom. John Simmons THE HISTORIAN'S SPOTLIGHT
Ok, all of you who know of any Burlington Police Depart ment please look closely at the photos. Check out the old depart ment photos in the hallway and also reach out to your depart ment’s most senior retirees. If you believe the pictures belong to your agency please reach out to Greg at louseel1@gmail.com. I can’t wait to finally get these photographs to the correct Burling ton Police Department! In Greg’s email he also answered some of my past questions regarding family members with NA alum. Greg said he is one of three NA graduates from the same generation. His brother, David Seel, retired as a special agent with the bureau. His brother in-lw, Joseph Boone, graduated from NA Session 174. Greg, as previously mentioned, graduated from NA Session 201. And his brother, David, returned as a counselor for NA Session 215. Finally, his brother-in-law, Hugh McKinney (deceased) was an instructor at Quantico. (He played guitar with the Free Agents.)
• Second from the left is McElroy. • Fourth from the left is Bob Stump. • Eighteen from the left is Hanson.
The remainder are either faded away or have partial names. Hope you can help us get the photo to the right agency.
