If we wish to conflno our walks lo the immediate vicinity of the city, we clioose the pathes along the banks of the artificial sheets of water — by some dignified witli the name of lakes — called «Sorte», «Peblinge» and «St. Jørgen seas». Similar walks, tliough in- ferior in beauty, are to be found along the castern and western Farimagsvei, Blcgdamsvei, between the East and West «Bridge«, along the City Commons, wlicre reviews are held and soldiers drillcd, Ladegaardsveien &c. A somewhat longer excursion is that to Fr e d e r i k s b e r g Ca s i l e , — the road to wliicli is through the Wcs t - gal c or the West- gapc, as the Copenhageners call it since the old hindrance has been cleared away — along the shady avenue that leads pasl Tivoli and «Frec- donis Statue« to the West-Bridge.
