WE ARE HERE

As part of the recent work to install a new overhead door, the construction contractor discovered rust on a structural support column in the original part of the facility (constructed 40 years ago). The contractor notified City staff and an independent structural engineering firm was brought in to examine all similar support columns. The engineering firm recommendedwe replace all, or part of, 11 support columns in the pool area. City staff immediately moved to undertake the column repairs and replacement. Unfortunately, the scope of this repair is a significant setback to the project completion and will move the pool opening to early 2020. Delays in construction are undeniably frustrating. Staff have explored all possible alternatives to address this recent setback and will continue to complete the work as quickly as possible without compromising the quality of the build. We understand the impact that this closure has on our community and will continue to support individuals, our swim clubs and other pool user groups to try to minimize the impact as much as possible.
