Discovering The Netherlands

Tax In The Netherlands, dogs have to be registered and most cities charge an annual tax “hondenbelasting” dog tax. You need to register your dog or cat within two weeks after arriving in the Netherlands. You can add your dog or cat to your own liability insurance “WA verzekering” in the case that one’s dog or cat causes an accident or injury. It must be noted that tenants in rented accommodation may not be permitted to keep pets. It is also common for dogs to be leashed in public spaces. You may also find that certain areas or cities have specific leashing rules so be sure to check near your home. Pet Care The Netherlands has a wide network of animal care facilities and vets.
