1st ICAI 2020

International Conference on Automotive Industry 2020

Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic

The share of electric vehicles in new passenger car sales is at the two percent level or more in only ten countries of the EU. It is also generally true that member states whose GDP per capita is greater than 30,000 euros achieve at least a two percent share. One exception is Portugal, where GDP per capita is only 18,110 euros but the share of electric cars on its market is 3.4%. GDP per capita is less than 20,000 euros in twelve EU countries. In ten of those countries the share of electric vehicles in the market is less than one percent. In the case of the Czech Republic, GDP per capita is 17,620 euros and the share of electric vehicles is 0.4%. 3.3 Availability of Infrastructure for Electric Vehicles in the EU The availability of infrastructure for recharging electric vehicles has an influence on how widespread they are in the markets of the individual EUmember states (Tsakalidis, 2019). The state of the infrastructure can be evaluated by the overall number of charging stations per 100 km of road network in the individual EU member states.
