Pointe aux Loups Island – Profile of the Region

Island Pointe aux Loups

An oasis in the sand dunes. All along Route 199, to the east and west of Pointe-aux-Loups, two long beaches washed by crystal clear waves stretch from Fatima to Grosse-Île. The beach on the west side is Dune du Nord Beach (north dune) and the one on the east of the Island is Pointe-aux-Loups Beach. These are two of the most beautiful beaches on the Islands.

Pointe aux Loups Pointe-aux-Loups is a little township of about 50 houses located on the smallest inhabited island. On the north side, you will discover a typical fishing port as well as the great North Dune Beach (Dune du Nord), which offers a shelter from the easterly winds. Small parking areas are available along the road, but not many services are provided. Pointe-aux Loups is also a good place for birdwatching (May-October), with its various environments along the road (beach, dune, wetland, and lagoon). Another point of interest visible from the Pointe-aux-Loups Beach (in the Grosse-Île sector) is the Dune-du-Nord wind farm.
