How to use this Toolkit

There is no point spending money/effort if you do not need to, so before implementing any of the schemes you need to sit down with your RBM and determine if there are any areas of your business you could improve. It might be your Mystery Guest scores, your Team turnover or your sales on a Wednesday night.

Once you have pinpointed the area(s) where an incentive scheme could help, follow the steps below:

1. Look at the headings on the following page. 2. Find the closest match to the area of your business you need to improve – do not worry if it’s not an exact match as many of these ideas can be amended to fit. 3. Check whether the scheme is “ tried and tested ” or a “ new idea ” – and then decide if you would like to be a guinea pig or not! 4. Read all the incentive schemes and decide which one your Team would best respond to. 5. Read carefully the section titled REWARDS AND TAX and ensure that you follow the guidelines. 6. Each incentive is set out like the example below – simply follow the instructions and away you go!

Lists the benefits that the incentive should bring – in £££’s!!

TEAM REWARD AND COSTS

Lists suggestions of prizes/certificates/rewards and their associated costs.

RESULT

Did it work? – describes how to evaluate how successful the scheme was. See EVALUATION FORM (Appendix 2)

BE AWARE

Details any potential problems/issues/mistakes that can happen in the set up/implementation/evaluation of the scheme.
