Possibly, in another life, I would like to do the same. However, in this incarnation, my approach to archi- tecture is absolutely different: I am a rationalist and cannot ‘step over’ this quality of mine — perhaps, it’s determinative for me; I do not want to create a form for the sake of a form. Dennis Kuvshinnikov: We seek to not only meet our own standards, but to raise the bar for modern office standards with our contractors. The criteria of success are quite transparent: if we managed to better the working process of company’s em- ployees, if the environment created adds to their comfort and productivity, then the goal is achieved. So far, the estimate for the number of workers we provided with offices counts hundreds of thou- sands of people — a huge number indeed. About innovations and trends Boris Levyant: First of all, our continuous goal is to master and implement the new design technolo- gies, now we are using BIM-simulation. The first BIM developments appeared in the last century, but practically, only several years ago they began to use this technology in the developed coun- tries. It is a method, providing that very complex approach to the design, when at the input, all in- formation about the object is entered, and all the data are taken into account simultaneously in the process of design, including not only the function of the structure, engineering communications, etc., but also the future operational processes, repair, the economy of the building and a lot of other factors. Dennis Kuvshinnikov: Bureau participates in pub- lic life within professional circles, including confer- ences, exhibitions, etc. We stay open to any profes- sional opportunity, and they come in plenty. Some of our partners are British Higher School of Art and Design, Moscow School of Architecture, London Business School. ABD architects are an authorized partner of HOC — a major architectural bureau in the U.S. Together, we set up projects and confer- ences, learn and discover new opportunities. About costs Boris Levyant: Our services are not cheap, but coming to us, our customers may be absolutely sure that we will not only give them the most ra- tional solution, but also save their money at the ex- pense of possibly not obvious for them approaches towards the distribution of spaces and functions in the future object. Besides, the absence of mistakes at design, which we also can guarantee due to our accumulated experience, is already a big saving in itself, as soon as any inaccuracy in the design causes considerable costs at construction. Julia Shisharina: Over the last years the develop- ment of the design and construction business has begun to move along two vectors — faster and cheaper. For most of our customers, it has become too expensive to import European finish- ing materials to Russia, and therefore we are look- ing for Russian analogues, trying to figure out the level of quality. The timing of design is reducing all the time, we no longer have time for the usual design stages, and this is also a definite challenge. We are constantly looking for new approaches or technologies that would allow us to solve design

По- стройки Фрэнка Гери, Тома Мэйна, Вольфа Прикса, Гюнтера Доменига я смотрю, по возможности, по всему миру. Это объекты для любования, созерца- ния, для сопереживания; это чистое формотворче- ство и трактовка архитектуры как скульптуры. Воз- можно, в другой жизни мне хотелось бы работать в том же направлении. Однако в нынешнем во- площении мой подход к архитектуре совершенно иной: я рационалист и не могу «перешагнуть» через это своё качество — вероятно, оно определяющее во мне; я не хочу делать форму ради формы. Денис Кувшинников: Берясь за новый проект, мы не только соблюдаем заданный самим себе уровень, но и стараемся повысить представления о стандарте современного офиса у наших заказчи- ков. Мы исходим из очень простых соображений — в компаниях клиентов работает большое количе- ство людей, и если благодаря нам их трудовые будни будут проходить в комфортной обстановке, значит, мы улучшили качество их жизни. Пример- ный подсчёт сотрудников, работающих в спроекти- рованных нами офисах, даёт очень большие циф- ры, возможно, сотни тысяч человек. О новациях и актуальных разработках Борис Левянт: Прежде всего, мы ставим целью постоянно осваивать и внедрять новые технологии проектирования, уже сейчас мы используем BIM- моделирование. Первые разработки BIM относятся ещё к прошедшему столетию, но применяться в развитых странах эта технология стала буквально несколько лет назад. Это методика, осуществляю- щая как раз тот самый комплексный подход к про- ектированию, когда на входе закладывается вся информация об объекте, и проектирование ведёт- ся с учётом одновременно всех вводных, включая не только функцию, конструкции, инженерные ком- муникации и т. п., но и процессы будущей эксплуа- тации, ремонта, экономики здания, а также другие факторы. Денис Кувшинников: Наше бюро живёт обще- ственной архитектурной жизнью, участвует в кон- ференциях, выставках и т. д. Современный мир предоставляет массу таких возможностей, и мы этому открыты. Мы сотрудничаем с Британской высшей школой дизайна, с МАрхИ, с London Business School. Кроме того, мы являемся авто- ризованным партнёром крупного американского архитектурного бюро HOK — на совместных про- ектах и конференциях мы тоже учимся и получаем новую информацию. О ценах Борис Левянт: Наши услуги недёшевы, но, обраща- ясь к нам, заказчики могут быть полностью увере- ны, что мы не только выдадим максимально раци- ональное решение, но и сэкономим им средства за счёт возможных неочевидных для них подходов к распределению в будущем объекте площадей и функций.
