INTRO TO COMPETITIVE SWIMMING Join us for a four-day stroke clinic for those interested in competitive swimming. Taught by local WSI-certified competitive swimmers and coaches, participants will learn techniques for the four competitive strokes including freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. A mini- competition will be held on the Thursday of the camp for parents and friends to attend. Participants must have achieved a minimum of Walleye/Level 4 or equivalent swimming ability. Instruction includes CPR, first aid, AED and water rescues. Students must attend all classes to obtain a LG certificate. This is a blended course that requires students to complete a 20-hour online portion before coming to class. The online portion will be sent to all participants 10 days before the class starts and must be completed before coming to class April 1. If not the online course is not completed, the individual will not be allowed to participate in the class and a refund will not be issued. Prerequisites include: Student must be at least 15 years old, able to swim 350 yards using front crawl and breaststroke, able to dive down nine feet to retrieve object and tread water for two minutes. LIFEGUARD PROGRAM The Junior Lifeguard Program provides an opportunity to learn about being a lifeguard and to bridge the gap between the learn-to-swim program and lifeguard training. Course content includes: waterfront safety, lifesaving techniques and procedures and swimming skill advancement. Upon completion of the course, participants who complete 20 hours of volunteer services at the SandVenture Aquatic Park will receive a refund of half the registration fees. PRIVATE/SEMI-PRIVATE LESSONS Private lessons offer four 30-minute sessions of one-on-one instruction for swimmers of all ages who desire to improve swimming skills or stroke technique.
