IN THE DESIGN PHASE

In addition to these planned 2020 park improvements, the city is working on design and concept planning for several other park projects: MEMORIAL PARK The city continues to work with local partners on the replacement of the Memorial Park pedestrian bridge. Archaeological approvals are underway with possible construction bidding later in 2020. Construction could start in 2020 and be completed in 2021. The city also plans to remove the aging playground in 2021. The Parks, Trails and Recreation Master Plan calls for installing a new natural playground on the west side of the park and allowing the eastern portion to return to a more natural setting. Any additional improvements to the park are still in the concept planning phase.

Major improvements are planned for 2021. SHAKOPEE CULTURAL CORRIDOR

Earlier this year, the city partnered with Scott County, Scott County Historical Society, Three Rivers Park District and Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community to assist in the development of a cultural corridor along the Minnesota River.
