INFRASTRUCTURE
Initiated a pilot program for Large Item Pick Up Services at high rise apartment buildings; Carried out 6 Pilot Pop Up Junk Events between July and October resulting in over 1,250 tonnes of waste collected with over 68% of this waste diverted from landfill and over 100 tonnes of reusable household items donated to non-profit organizations; Through direct contact with residents, we have doubled our Large Item Pick Up participation rates from an average of 15% per year to 30% since May 2016; and Completed SCADA system upgrade that is used to monitor the City’s pump stations.
Enhanced Engineering land
development design process by expanding electronic design submission/review to include external utility drawings; Significant progression towards completing construction of the Surrey Biofuel facility (85% completion by December 31, 2016); Finalized an agreement with FortisBC to sell and purchase biomethane produced at the Biofuel Facility; Increased customer waste diversion from 70% to 72%;
FUTURE INITIATIVES, GOALS & OBJECTIVES
INCLUSION
Continue to assist the Surrey Food Bank (“SFB”) with identification and selection of new premises for their relocation, as well as potentially acquiring the existing SFB facility to ensure a smooth relocation transition.
Continue to respond to the needs of the homeless population by locating and securing facilities intended for year-round shelters, winter shelters, and extreme weather shelters; and
BUILT ENVIRONMENT & NEIGHBOURHOODS
Servicing Strategies:
Secure a location within the Newton or City Centre area to host a regional Residential Drop-off Eco-centre Facility; Complete cadastral data comparison between ParcelMap BC and COSMOS to make recommendations on the adoption; Create digital initiation and tracking application for road acquisitions; and
