Annual staff garden party

The catering team did us proud with a fabulous spread of mini-cakes and drinks and lots of people enjoyed the large garden party games in The Christie gardens. Ken Fosters Cycle Logic brought along a number of bikes for staff to try. A ‘blast from the past’ Chopper was especially popular. The Christie charity also had a promotional stand which was popular with staff and visitors alike. A number of staff took part in the Great Christie 1948 Bake-Off competition which was judged by the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service. Amongst other bakes we had 1916 gingerbread sponge, vinegar cake and chocolate layer cake inspired by the booklet produced in conjunction with the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine. Pippa Middleton, the BBC’s Best Home Cook winner, awarded the certificates together with station manager, Pat Johnson. The annual staff garden party took place on Wed 25th July amid the glorious sunshine we have had this year.

After a very close-run final between the HR Hitters and the Surgical Strikers, the Surgical Strikers just managed to retain their title as champions for the second year. Congratulation to them and well done to all the teams that took part.
