B. Report on Demographic and Statistical Comparison, ECCC vs. the Mississippi CommunityCollege System (MACJC) per Fall 2018 MCCB Enrollment Audit Data.

Notes:

a. ECCC was second in the state system in percentage of students enrolled in at least fifteen semester credit hours at 64.1%. The MACJC average was 58.8%. b. The MACJC was 38.3% male and 61.7% female. ECCC had a slightly higher share of male students at 39.8%, which was fourth in the system. c. ECCC’s Native American student population was a unique characteristic in the state system. ECCC’s racial percentages versus system averages are as follows:

d. In-district students comprised 82.8% of ECCC students in fall 2018, the fourth highest percentage in the system. The third highest was 85.8%%, with the fifth highest equaling 81.8%. The system average was 77.3%. e. The MACJC is overwhelmingly a system comprised of in-state students, 96.0%. ECCC exceeds this average with 97.2%, the third highest in the system. f. ECCC was the most residential in nature of the MACJC colleges, with 28.3% of fall students residing on campus. The system average was 14.9%, with the second highest percentage equaling 22.4%. g. ECCC admitted a comparably low percentage of students with a high school equivalency (HSE) diploma. ECCC admitted 2.6% of its students with an HSE, which was fourteenth in the system, which averaged 4.0%. h. ECCC was fourth in the percentage degree-seeking (FR/SO) students qualifying for remediation (by ACT subject score cutoff) at 43.5%. The system average was 30.1%. i. The system continues to see increased dual enrollment/dual credit activity. In the fall 2018 semester, MACJC dual enrollment/dual credit hours totaled 60,901, up from 46,005 the previous fall, an increase of 32.3%. ECCC also experienced an increase, from 2,342 to 3,434, or 46.6%. ECCC ranked fourth in the percentage of overall credit classified as dual credit. j. ECCC was in the middle in the percentage of students in career & technical programs at 20.4%, the seventh highest rate in the MACJC. The system average was 21.0%. k. Of ECCC’s fall 2016 student enrollment, 22.1% were classified as sophomores. This was the lowest percentage (15 th ) in the system, with the second lowest coming in at 29.6% and the highest at 61.4%.
