Невьянский завод был основан в 1701 году и более двух веков успешно поставлял чугун и железо для оружейной промышленности – отсюда на гербе современного города пушечные ядра. Легенды говорят, что добывали здесь и драгоценные металлы, из которых по наказу Демидовых делали монету в подвале Невьянской башни. Частновладельческий поселок Невьянский Завод был вотчиной Демидовых, а потом Яковлевых, прославился как центр чёрной металлургии, старообрядчества и ремёсел. Однако к середине 19 века ближайшие к посе- лению рудники выработались, и заводу пришлось поменять специализацию. В частности, был создан механический цех,который позже стал основойНевь- янского машиностроительного завода. Сейчас доля завода в экономике города невелика – в работе за- вода постоянно задействовано не более 700 человек при населении около 25000 человек. Для остальных горожан работы не хватает: на сайтах по поиску ра- боты размещаются в основном вакансии вахтово- го типа в сфере строительства в Екатеринбурге или предложения удалённой работы через интернет. Од- нако поток туристов, желающих взглянуть на окрест- ности города с вершины Невьянской башни, не ис- сякает, а значит, перед Невьянском открываются перспективы, пусть и в новом для него качестве. Невьянская башня – выдающееся архитектурное со- оружение, созданное в первой половине 18 века.

The Nevyansk plant was founded in 1701 and for more than two centuries had supplied the arms industry with wrought and cast iron, which is why the town’s blazon has cannonballs on it. Legends say that precious metals were mined here as well, and that by the will of the Demi- doffs coins were mint out of them in the basement of the Nevyansk Tower. The privately owned settlement of the Nevyansky plant was a fiefdom of the Demidoffs, then, of the Yakovlevs; it became famous as a center of ferrous metallurgy, Old Believers, and crafts. However, by the mid 19th century the mines closed due to the settlement’s mineral resources being over- exhausted, and the plant had to change its specialization. Inparticular,amachine shopwhich later became the basis of the Nevyansk machine building plant was founded. Today the plant’s contribution to the town’s economy is small: its permanent employees number no more than 700 out of a population of around 25,000. There are not enough job positions for the rest of the residents; the vacancies offered are mostly shift jobs in construction in Ekaterinburg or remote jobs via internet. The number of tourists willing to see the town’s outskirts from the top of the Nevyansk Tower, however, remains large, which means that Nevyansk is welcoming new perspectives.
