abolished. However, as of 17 December 2023, the subsidy (up to € 6,500) for pure electric vehicles also ended. As a result, the German federal government has under-supported the purchase of around 2.1 million electric vehicles with a total of €10 billion from 2016 to the end of 2023. It is quite likely that future German governments will seek to introduce a further wave of measures to encourage the purchase of electric vehicles.
