VISTA. Aname. A legend.A hallmark of excellence in informing the masses at USD. Now in its 21st year of publication, the VISTA hasrisen to new heights in its jour nalistic endeavors to bring straight, true facts tothe campus. Carol Damon spearheaded the expansion of the VISTAthis year, thisbeing herfirst priority as editor-in-chief. She holds cer tain truths to be self-evident, including fact that there is life beyond the hill. It was this truththat shewanted to bring tothe students, and tried to expand their hori zons with new sections such as the San Diego News and the Health and Science sections. These two were edited by Emily Schell and Jessica Watson, respectively. A fine Entertainment section was consi tent in its format of having a diverse and informative place for students to turn in search of amusement. It was co-edited by Jane "Let's Go To Tijuana" Knoell and Joseph "Father" Mularky. Sports surpassed its previous years by acknowledging the I.M. Athlete. Too long passed over,Intramurals and all those who participated, received the recognition they so richly deserved. Ken Koo received the section from Fall semester's editor, Gina Arcaro. Coloring VISTA's world was the mad photographer himself, Andy Wasa. Andy would actually develop the pictures by deadline, something new and wonderful for The writersthis yearwere not to be be lieved, more than ever, better than ever. Two writers,Greg Bart andTimothy Dur- nin, led the pack. As in preceeding years, Greg Bart againprovided the VISTAwith his thought provoking, if not controversial, opinions. And a newcomer, Tim Durnin, accentuated the paper and staff with his hard-hitting articles, no one being safe from his wrath. VISTA had more sixteen and twenty page issues than ever before, much to the angst ofthe various Secretaries of Finance. VISTA sees it as only the beginning, con tinuing to where VISTA is not only a daily paper, but he definitive daily paper. VIS TA also saw the end of a tradition when venerable editor-writer-lord Robert Mad den jumped ship early in the Fall. When not in Vegas, he still haunts the office, however.
