Christos Renner returns for his fourth and final season with the Toreros where he will anchor the offensive line at left tackle ... during his junior campaign Renner earned First Team All-Pioneer Football League honors as an offensive tackle for the Toreros ... he directed USD's line that helped tailback Oscar Arzu rush for 1,041 yards and 11 touchdowns and the team to 1,896 yards and 21 rushing scores ... Christos also was named to the PFL All-Academic Team, and was a Honorable Mention All-America pick by Don Hansen's Football Gazette for NCAA I-AA Nonscholarship programs ... as a sophomore in 1998 he earned some starting assignments on the Torero offensive line ... from Henderson, Nevada, Christos prepped at Green Valley High School where he helped his team to three Sunrise Division League Championships and one State runner-up finish ... his senior year he was named a Scholar-Athlete; was Most Valuable Player of the Offensive Line; First Team All-League; and earned All-State recognition ... his junior season he was offensive line MVP and a scholar-athlete ... (46 unassisted) and interceptions (4) ... he reached double-digit tackles in five games with a personal best 16 tackles at Dayton ... in season final agai nst Wagner he tallied 3 interceptions to go with 8 tackles ... he enters the 2000 campaign with I I career interceptions -- he needs two picks to set a new Torero career mark and pass Kaeo Gouveia ( 12, 1996-99) ... in 1998 he earned 2nd Team All-Pioneer Football League honors after leading USD in tackles (85; 53 unassisted) and interceptions (6) ... he twice earned PFL Defensive Player of the Week honors -- on Sept. 26th against Cal Lu he tallied 9 tackles, 2 interceptions and I forced fumble; on Oct. 3rd vs. Central Connecticut he recorded 10 tackles (9 unassisted), I fumble recovery, 1 interception and I pass break-up ... he also posted 14 tackles (Fairfield) and 13 tackles (Dayton) .. . in 1997 he appeared in 8 contests finishing with I3 tackles and 1 interception ... also recruited by UC Davis, Western Michigan, Cornell and Brown ... prepped at Alta Lorna High School where he was a four-sport lettermen in football , soccer, baseball and track ... in football senior year earned

Tom Jackson returns for his fourth and final year with the Toreros ... he stepped in last year in the very first game at Azusa Pacific for injured Mike Stadler and went on to start the rest ofthe season ... he earned 2nd Team All-Pioneer Football League honors after passing for 1,510 yards and 7 touchdowns on 129-for-23 I passing (.558), and was selected to the PFL All-Academic Team ... in the Azusa Pacific game he finished l 9-of-33 for 174 yards ... later in the season he had a big day against Drake finishing I5-for-29 for 242 yards and I TD, and closed out the season in strong fashion going I7-for-24 for a personal-best 321 yards and 3 touchdowns in the team's 31-12 victory over Wagner College ... he twice completed 19 passes in a game (Azusa Pacific and Valparaiso) ... was the team's third leading rusher with 163 yards and 3 scores -- in the team's win over Butler he rushed I I times for 67 yards with a long run of 40 yards ... prior to USD prepped at nearby Mar Vista High where he was a three-sport

letterwinner in football , basketball and volleyball ... in football was a two-time Honorable Mention All-Harbor pick ... also earned All-League honors in volleyball ... Major: Business Administration.

Anthony Banovae returns for his fourth year with the Toreros ... he'll start again at defensive tackle where last season he earned 2nd Team All-PFL honors after tallying 34 tackles ( 16 unass isted) ... he had a team-best 7 quarterback sacks (-38 yards) and was second with 11 tackles for loss (-43 yards) ... he also chipped in with 3 quarterback hurries, I fumble recovery and I blocked kick ... in the team's season final against Wagner he totaled a personal-best 9 stops (4 unassisted) ... in 1998 he tallied 13 tackles (6 unassisted) with two quarterback sacks (-1 I yards) and four tackles for loss (-14 yards) ... in season opener against Azusa Pacific he came in and posted 4 stops with two tackles going for losses .. . prior to USD he prepped at Crespi High School where he was a three– sport letterwinner in football, basketball and baseball ... his senior year in football the team went 12-2 and posted a state ranking of No. 2 ... senior year earned the team's Most Inspirational Award, and junior campaign was the

start at inside linebacker ... last season he earned 2nd Team All-PFL honors after finishing second on the team in tackles with 93 (39 unassisted) and first in tackles for loss with 13 (-46 yards) ... he also added 4 quarterback sacks (-19), 2 interceptions, 4 QB hurries, I fumble recovery, 2 forced fumbles and 2 blocked kicks ... he finished six games with double-digit tackles, including the final four contests ... he was named PFL defensive playerofthe week (Sept. 12th) after team's win over Whittier ... season-best 13 tackles at Valparaiso ... in 1998 he earned hi s first start agai nst Cal Lu and went on to start the fina l 7 games of the season, finishing second on the team in tackles with 72 (41 unassisted) ... he had at least 9 stops in each of the final six games, netting 9 tackles three times (Central Conn., Butler & Valparaiso), 12 tackles twice (Fairfield & Drake), and a personal-best 21 tacktes (IO unassisted) in season final against Dayton ... he prepped at San Benito HS in Hollister, CA ... earned 2nd Team All-Central Coast Section honors and Monterey Bay All-League recognition ... two-time MVP Defensive Player of the Year for both team and league ... also lettered in wrestling where he was a state qualifier and earned 3rd Team All-Section and Ist Team All -League honors ...
