PGMS 2017 Green Star Grand Award

SSC Services for Education Grounds Department Honored Alongside Award Winning Texas A&M University

The Professional Grounds Management Society (PGMS) recognized Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas with a Grand Award in the Society's 2017 Green Star Awards® competition. The award was given in the University and College Grounds (Large) category for exceptional grounds maintenance. Winners were honored during the Society’s 2017 Awards Dinner held Oct. 20 in conjunction with the School of Grounds Management & GIE+EXPO in Louisville, Ky., Oct. 18-21.

From managing Simpson Drill Field where The Corps of Cadets host review, to the “Howdy” Bed whose vibrant annual color welcomes Aggies and visitors alike, to the verdant Spirit Ring at the Bon Fire Memorial that commemorates the history, tradition, and Spirit of A&M. The SSC Services for Education Texas A&M Grounds Department diligently strives to uphold the Texas A&M University core values of: Excellence, Integrity, Leadership, Loyalty, and Selfless Service. In 2014, the team of SSC Grounds Department and Texas A&M University received a Grand Award for their impressive work at The George Bush Presidential Library. The Green Star Awards program brings national recognition to grounds maintained with a high degree of excellence, complimenting other national landscape award programs that recognize outstanding landscape design and construction . Grand, Honor and Merit Awards are offered in 15 categories. The judging criteria are: overall a e s t h e t i c s , s t a f f professionalism, response to grounds related challenges, sustainable practices, and safety.
