Grounds Tips for your Home: Continue to water ever- green plants especially broad leaf shrubs into winter. In all but the deep South, now is a good time to in- stall Tulips and other bulbs Great time for planting woody plants & perenni- als (also a great time to divide perennials and or- namental grasses) Roses in and above the transition zone —wait un- til a good foliage covering frost to add mulch around the base to pro- tect feeder roots (no more than 4” in transition zone up to 8” in northern cli- mates), include a little or- ganic fertilizer (Rose Tone) under the mulch for flow- er production in the spring. You can prune old canes and trim back a lit- tle after a hard frost.
