IPA Dublin House Mike Roberts , Liverpool & Merseyside Branch

Leicestershire branch Christmas party Clive Wood Vice President (Responsible for the Professional Portfolio) Almost 30 members of the Leicestershire Branch recently attended Police Headquarters to enjoy the annual Branch Christmas Party. The buffet was as usual supplied by the Force Catering Manager and was first class and enjoyed by all. Games including an oversized play your cards right with Branch Secretary Bob Gunnell acting as Sir Bruce Forsyth but with no volunteers to act as his “dolly dealers “ did a great job in turning the cards and selecting the players. This year unusually there were more winners than there was prize fund which created a few technical difficulties. Luckily generous donations to the raffle meant that overall the night was still able to add to Branch funds. The ever popular “ bidding game” saw significant interest amongst the six tables for some of the more useful prizes with them moving between tables on every turn of the cards.

I arrived at the Dublin IPA house on Wed 6th December for my Graduation at UCD on 7th. My MSc is in Forensic Computing and Cybercrime, which is a Law Enforcement only Masters Degree and well respected worldwide. I have met cops from all over the world on the course, and UCD is a world leader in the subject. I am a serving Detective Constable in Titan, which is the UK North West Regional Organised Crime Unit. I have been in the IPA since 2003 and hadn’t stayed in an IPA house ...until last weekend (when I went to Dublin Whiskey Live with the IPA Whiskey Crew). The house is an absolute credit to IPA Ireland, and makes you feel at home so quickly. It is clear that a load of work goes on behind the scenes to make everything so professional. I went over for my stay with my 2 daughters, my wife, and my mum with her partner. We visited Glasnevin Cemetery, and Kilmainham Jail, and also did plenty of shopping! The Gravediggers pub was an awesome pint of Guinness, and I’d recommend a visit to any IPA members.

Quiz night Paul Farley New Scotland Yard Branch

On 7th December members from the New Scotland Yard Branch (6 Region) attended a quiz night at the Civil Service Club in central London. Located on Great Scotland Yard, the venue provided an ideal location for NSY branch event.

In fact, historic records from 1862 indicate that the original Metropolitan Police Commissioner’s office was located in nearby Whitehall Place, and had an entrance on Great Scotland Yard. It is believed that this is how the Metropolitan Police Headquarters gained their now infamous namesake, which has also been adopted by the IPA branch. As well as taking place in a location steeped in police history, this was no normal quiz, as the quizmaster was none other than Shaun Wallace

(aka “The Dark Destroyer”) from ITVs hit show The Chase. Two teams from the NSY branch battled their way through ten rounds (100 questions) against other teams, finishing up in 5th and 9th position. NSY Branch Chairman Paul Farley said: “This was a fantastic evening of great food and friendly competition, shared with IPA friends and family… even if we didn’t come anywhere near to winning!”

From Wolfsburg to Fuerteventura Author??

And that’s exactly what happened. In mid-January this year over three days we explored Fuerteventura together, enjoying each other’s company, the island’s beaches, the

When 12 members from Cambridgeshire Branch travelled to Wolfsburg in August 2017, we were all looking forward to the 5-day trip that our hosts had planned for us. The visit, which included a VIP tour of the mile-long VW factory, an afternoon at the Autostadt, a cruise down the Mittelland canal, a display of intervention tactics and an International foot patrol was first rate and the hospitality shown to us by our hosts was excellent. On the first evening Rebecca and I were sat enjoying a beer with branch member Nigel and his wife Mandy along with our old friends Heinz and Astrid from Wolfsburg. I happened to mention that Nigel had a property in Fuerteventura and that we would be visiting them there in January 2018. At the mention of Fuerteventura, Heinz and Astrid asked when exactly we would be there. It turned out that they too would be in Fuerte on holiday at exactly the same time and so we agreed that we would all meet up there in five months’ time.

rugged interior and the great food and drink on offer. It just shows you where the IPA can take you – in this case aver 3,000 miles from Cambridgeshire to Wolfsburg to Fuerteventura!
